Translated from French, Vérité means “truth,” a name which was inspired by Dr. Kademian’s desire to provide a one-stop true skin expert as a resource for the Columbus community. We’re here to provide patients with a backbone experience directed by a board certified dermatologist who can treat common rashes/warts/growths, make sure your spot isn’t cancer, manage complicated skin disease AND make you glow and feel your best. Our community needed an all-around skin resource—a solution to the confusion of where to go, who to trust, or what is scientifically proven to work for the skin. Dr. Kademian felt the need for an out-of-the-box, aesthetically slanted dermatology office that did not lose sight of the fundamentals: (1) to keep you safe and (2) to be here to advocate for you medically when needed. A dermatologist’s breadth of knowledge and experience is an invaluable resource with all treatments—medical, surgical or aesthetic.
Offering an alternative experience to the traditional model of medicine and the doctor-patient relationship
Dr. Kademian values the trust patients put in her, which she credits to her ability to spend an extended amount of time with each patient understanding their concerns, providing education and performing thorough exams. After a decade of experience working in a traditionally structured dermatology practice, she recognized the need for a model that allowed her to sit and talk with patients without constantly feeling rushed. This model also gives patients ample time to voice their own concerns and ask questions. Vérité’s structure is meant to facilitate dialogue—one that strives to create an environment focused on education and trust as well as friendship and an ongoing relationship. Dr. Kademian’s goal is to provide an experience and education for patients that feels genuine, approachable and empowering.
At the end of the day, you have to pass the mirror test—look in the mirror, know you did the best you could, gave your best effort and did the right thing—be true to living your truth and accepting yourself, your gifts and your insecurities. If something doesn’t feel right, it isn’t. Change it and move forward. Listen to your inner voice. It may be weak initially; it can be lonely and scary to pay it attention. But when your truth unfolds, little by little, the energy and the beauty are palpable and contagious, and you will do great things and inspire others to do the same. These are the values I was raised with, and the values I want to instill in my own kids.
And by eliminating the extra overhead and unpredictability that comes with billing insurance companies, she has been able to create a fee-for-service model that offers transparent pricing. Without having to spend time sending claims back and forth to insurance companies, Vérité’s team is free to spend more time and resources on patients.
The art of aesthetics
Aesthetic dermatology is not cookie cutter—there’s a true art form in facial rejuvenation, and over the years, Dr. Kademian has found a love for the art of aesthetic dermatology.
In another life, I think I would have found a trade that allowed me to create, design and curate beauty in some art form. Ironically, I’ve been able to find art through medicine! I didn’t enter this field thinking about being an artist of medicine, but the more I do it, the better I get and the more I love it. I just love it. I can’t put into words the joy I feel seeing my patients smile when they feel their best, knowing I may have played a small part in it.
When patients come in for aesthetic procedures, Dr. Kademian talks with them to determine how their skin or facial structure is aging, and what can be done to tweak those elements. She learns what bothers them, and she shares her own views on changes she notices. Dr. Kademian’s approach on aesthetic procedures is “less is more.”
We all get laugh lines and wrinkles—they’re signs that we’re human and we’ve lived! I’m not trying to make it look like you’ve got stuff in your face. It’s okay to have some wrinkles and lines around your eyes. Let’s soften bigger grooves and reduce the appearance of sun damage. Sun damage is terribly aging and dangerous. Fortunately, we have ways to reverse it.
Breaking down stigmas & providing resources for people to feel their best
Many people are initially fearful of aesthetic dermatology. Vérité is determined to empower people who are seeking this kind of care. We want patients to know they shouldn’t feel shameful, embarrassed or vain if they want to change something about their outward appearance. Some people are forward about it while others are more reserved. We respect both sides and want patients to feel comfortable. Over time, we’re able to build a rapport with patients, and they feel more comfortable speaking about their concerns—THIS is where the magic happens. The ability to have time to get to know patients on a personal level is another reason Dr. Kademian feels so strongly about maintaining a practice that prioritizes sufficient time with patients. After all, your glow is our passion! Pulling the inner glow out is the trick, and that starts by taking the time to talk to and get to know and understand our patients.
In addition to offering top-notch care in the office, Dr. Kademian wanted to provide patients with effective and safe products that could be used at home to increase their results. By creating her own skincare line with a manufacturing lab in California, Dr. Kademian was able to create the cleanest products possible at the best price points. She also stocks the office (and online store!) with the best products on the market for at-home care.
Vérité’s team
At Vérité, we value a team player approach, and we’ve kept our team small for a reason. Everyone has their own niche, but we are cross trained to be able to help each other when necessary. We’ve built an environment that has lots of continuity, from speaking with us over the phone to the feeling you get inside the office. In larger practices, receptionists rarely step in the back and see procedures or get to know patients personally—to us, this is a lack of continuity in care. We believe keeping all staff involved in the back and front end of experiences leads to exceptional patient care. From our medical assistant who assists with scheduling and answering questions over the phone to our two part-time estheticians who perform treatments such as peels and facials, all team members have the ability to speak knowledgeably about the various treatments offered in our office, while Dr. Kademian works to diagnose and treat skin concerns and performs all procedures.
We’ve worked hard to create a unique environment that changes the norms of dermatology and offers the best care possible. It’s our priority to advocate for our patients, to educate, to listen and to make them feel their best from the inside out!
